How to find Dell laptop model

Model number of any laptop computer usually consists of numbers and letters, and may include a series name. Model number is meant to identify an entire specific line up of laptop computers, and identical computers from the same line up will have identical or slightly varying model names. Unlike serial numbers, service tags or asset tags model name and number is not unique to each individual computer.

Dell computers have labels that are usually very easy to find. Typically a label with the model number information will be found on the bottom of the laptop computer. Please do not confuse a model number with Dell service tag or serial number.

Dell has released a few different series of laptops and it is best to include series name during your search to narrow down the results and to avoid confusion with the model numbers that cross-over between different series of Dell computers.

As well try to include the full model number in your search on our website for the most appropriate results:
i.e. Inspiron 15 - 3521

In some cases the model name will be written on the user facing parts of the laptop like bezels, palm-rests or frames. We highly recommend checking the bottom label to ensure that the name on the face matches the name on the label - and when different the name on the back label should be considered the final authority.
