Tools

This is a guide on replacing a screen on Acer Aspire A515-55-55R6
For the replacement process we will need the following tools:
- a heat gun
- a plastic pick
- tweezers
- and a Phillips screwdriver

Turn off the laptop

To begin turn off the laptop and disconnect the power cord

Remove the bezel

Start removing the bezel. Start from the left side and go around the perimeter
unsnapping the tabs underneath. Put the bezel aside

Remove adhesive strips

The screen is held in place by two strips of adhesive on the right and the left sides.
We should be able to remove the adhesive by pulling the tabs in the bottom corners.
In our case the adhesive strips are tearing apart. So we have to use a Heat Gun to soften
the glue. Start warming up the right side of the back cover. Plastic should be warm on touch
but not burning. Insert a plastic pick between the LCS screen and the back cover,
move it along the edge. Continue warming up the glue. Remove the adhesive strip.
Warm up the left side of the back cover. Insert a plastic pick and gently pry off the LCD.
Move the plastic pick to the bottom. Place the LCD on the keyboard.
Remove the remaining adhesive strips

Disconnect the video cable

The video connector is secured with clear tape. Peel off the tape. Open the connector's bracket.
Using both hands disconnect the cable. Discard the old screen

Connect the new screen

Take the new LCD screen and place it on the keyboard. Reconnect the the video cable.
Close the connector's bracket. Secure it with the clear tape.
CAUTION! It is very important not to force any connectors.
As well you must not twist or slant the connector when plugging it in

Test the screen

Now we can test the new screen. Lift the screen up and lean it against the back cover.
We need to reconnect the power cord. Otherwise the laptop won't start. Press the power button.
The start graphics appear and we can finish the installation process. Turn the laptop off.

Reinstall the new screen using new adhesive strips

Your new display is likely to come with no adhesive. We offer standard double-sided tape
for such repairs on our site:https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/section/tools/
Use alcohol and a piece of cloth to clean the back side of the LCD and the inner surface
of the back cover. Apply the new adhesive strips on back of the LCD. Lift the screen up and
using a fine micro fibor cloth apply pressure to the display along the edges to catch the adhesive.
Remove the protective film

Replace the bezel

Start from the bottom making sure that the bezel goes under the hinge cover.
Then go around the perimeter snapping tabs back in place. Use one hand to support
the back cover while snapping the tabs along the hinge. Close the laptop and make sure
that all the tabs are in place.

Turn the laptop on. And we are done!
