This is a guide to replacing the LCD on a Samsung 550P laptop. To begin, disconnect the AC
power and remove the battery.
Remove the bezel
Proceed with separating the bezel: start at the left side and move around the inner edge of
the bezel, gently unsnapping the plastic tabs underneath. Take extra caution around the
hinge covers; you may need to open the clamshell fully in order to remove the bezel. Set
the bezel aside.
Separate the LCD screen
The LCD is mounted with two Phillips screws on the LCD tabs, one in each top corner. Once
the screws are removed, gently tilt the LCD down and place it face down on the keyboard.
Disconnect the video cable
Peel the clear plastic tape securing the video connector and, using both hands,
disconnect the video cable. Set the old LCD aside.
Connect the new LCD
At this point, the new screen can be installed. Place it face down on the keyboard. Align
the LCD's video connector with the video cable and, using both hands, gently slide the
connector into the jack. Make sure that the video cable is not twisted or slanted, it must
be straight when plugging it in.
Install the new LCD
Bend out the protective film tabs, lift the LCD up, and place it into the back cover.
Remove the protective film. Replace the two Phillips screws at the top of the screen, one
in each corner.
Test the new screen
At this point, the new screen can be tested: Reconnect the AC power and turn the laptop on.
If the startup graphics appear, the LCD is installed properly and working. Hold the power
button to cancel the boot-up. Disconnect the AC power.
Replace the bezel
Replace the bezel, starting at the hinge covers, and gently apply pressure around the
perimeter of the display assembly until the bezel is firmly in place. Reinstall the
battery, reconnect the AC power, turn the laptop on, and you're done!
