iPhone 4S speaker grill and home button transfer
Speaker grill and the home button
When replacing a digitizer and an LCD on the Apple iPhone 4 and 4S, the speaker grill
and the home button may not be included on the replacement part and would have to be
transferred.
Remove the speaker grill
To transfer the speaker grill, gently poke it out with a screwdriver from the front and
set it aside.
Remove the home button
The home button is mounted on an adhesive membrane. Using a flat
screwdriver, gently pick at the corner of the membrane and, applying pressure from the
front with your finger, continue to gently separate the adhesive until the home button
can be removed.
Transfer the home button on to the new screen assembly
Unpack your replacement part and remove the protective film from the back. Replace the
home button, pressing down around the edges of the membrane with your finger to secure
the home button in place.
Transfer the speaker grill on to the new screen assembly
The speaker grill can be attached next. Place a bead of standard paper glue on a
screwdriver and put two tiny dabs on the edges of the speaker grill on the gray side of
it. Pick the speaker grill up with a screwdriver and put it on the replacement part.
Align it properly, secure it in place with your finger, and you're done!
