Replacement of screen on Apple iPhone 5 screen made by LaptopScreen.com

Background information

This is a guide on replacing a screen on the Apple iPhone 5 the screen is integrated with a digitizer
and is replace with the entire front assembly. Tools you will need are a pentalobe screwdriver a pick
or a flat screwdriver, SIM removal tool and a suction cup. You will also need a small Phillips
screwdriver later on

Shut down the iPhone and remove the SIM card

Go ahead and turn off the iPhone by holding the power button at the top and then confirming the
shutdown on screen. Then take the SIM card tray out using the SIM removal tool or a paper clip

Open the iPhone

Then remove the two pental op screws located near the lightning connector. Next place a suction
cup as close to the home button as possible without overlapping it and while keeping your left
thumb firmly on the earpiece pull on the suction cup to open the front assembly from the bottom.
Carefully open up the front assembly at a right angle to the body

Disconnect the front assembly

Remove three small screws securing the EM shield to gain access to the connectors. Use a
small Philip screwdriver. Please note that the right top screw is larger than the rest. Flip open
the EM Shield then remove it by gently shifting it to the left and lifting it out. Using a pick or a
flat screwdriver disconnect the three connectors. Please be extra careful. Damaging any of the
connectors may require a logic board replacement. Set the old screen aside

Connect the new front assembly

Take out the new screen and gently connect its three leads back to the logic board. Each
connector snaps in easily if properly aligned and you can feel a distinct click when the
connector is properly secured Replace the EM shield. Then the top right screw which is larger
than the other two. Reinstall the remaining screws to close the front assembly

Install the new front assembly

Insert the top Edge into the groove and while making sure that nothing is getting caught on the sides.
Gently snap the screen back in place

Test the new screen

At this point it is a good idea to test the new screen. Press the power button and Apple logo will
appear hold the power button at the top and confirm the shut down on screen

Finish the installation

Remove the protective film then replace. Replace the two pentalobe screws. Replace the SIM
card tray and you're done!
