Shut down the laptop

To begin, shut down the computer by holding the power button and disconnect the AC power.

Remove the bezel

Proceed with removing the bezel. In certain cases, it is held down with two or four screws
in the corners hidden behind plastic or rubber covers, but in this case, there are no bezel
screws. Pull away the bezel by the inner edge, starting from the sides. Be gentle and try
not to break any of the plastic tabs underneath. (Note: Sometimes the bezel may also be
glued on the inner edge. You may need to open the clamshell fully to unsnap the hinge cover
portion of the bezel). Set the bezel aside.

Remove four screws

The LCD is usually mounted with several tiny screws located on the sides of the LCD
brackets. Remove the top LCD mounting bracket screws. Loosen two (sometimes three) screws on
each side where the LCD mounting bracket is attached to the hinge to expose the side
mounting screws. One or two turns of each screw on the bottom of the LCD mounting bracket
should provide sufficient access to the tiny side screws.

Remove the LCD mounting screws (two, three, or four on each side).

Disconnect the web camera

Depending on your laptop's video cable design, the web camera may need to be disconnected
at the top to prevent the video cable from overstretching.

Disconnect the video cable

Place the LCD panel face down on the keyboard. Peel the tape securing the video cable and
gently disconnect the video cable, then set the old panel aside.

Connect the new screen

Place the new LCD panel face down on the keyboard. Reconnect the video cable and secure it
with clear tape. CAUTION: It is very important not to force any of the connectors, as
they are extremely fragile. You must not slant the video connector when plugging it in.

Install the new screen

Lift the screen up, aligning it with the back cover, then replace the left and right side
mounting screws. Reconnect the web camera cable.

Test the new screen

At this point, we can test out the new screen: Reconnect the power cable and turn the laptop
on. If the startup graphics appear, the screen is installed correctly.

Hold the power button to cancel the boot-up.

Replace the remaining screws

Tighten the LCD mounting bracket screws at the bottom near each hinge, then replace the
top bracket screws.

Replace the bezel

Replace the bezel: start at the bottom hinge covers and go around the perimeter,
snapping its tabs firmly in place. Turn on the laptop, and you're done!
