Troubleshooting

NOTE:
1. If image is blank, reconnect video cable from both sides and secure connector with tape.
2. If the original screen has the same issue as the new received screen, the problem is likely in another part of the laptop.
3. Remove the battery and unplug the power before screen installation.
4. Install the latest updates for your operating system and restart the laptop. Open search in OS and enter "Check for updates"

No image or black screen

If the computer screen remains black or blank, and there are no error messages on the screen, you must determine if this blank screen is caused by a problem with the display or if it indicates a problem with the computer.

1. Reconnect video cable from both sides. Make sure pins in the new screen's video connector are not bent and video cable connector is not damaged, and make sure the video cable connection is secure at the screen and motherboard level.

2. Make sure original screen still shows video, if not it's likely another problem with the laptop.

3. Make sure laptop is powered and AC power supply works. Press power button, check for any lights on the laptop. If none, the laptop may have another failing part.

4. Try to adjust LCD brightness on maximum.

5. Test the LCD in the system Setup (BIOS):
- turn off the laptop;
- power on the laptop and hold Fn key to enter BIOS. Most common Fn key is F1, F2, F3, and F10, F12, delete on older laptops. Some laptops use key sequences (Fn + Esc, Ctrl +Alt +Enter, Fn +F1);
- observe if LCD screen works as intended.

6. Connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV (using VGA or HDMI cable) to check that VGA card is working as intended. If there is no image on the external monitor, update video drivers and chipset drivers. If both displays do not display any image, the issue is another part of the laptop and not with the LCD.

7. Update video driver to the latest version:
- turn off the laptop;
- login to safe mode - power on the laptop, press and hold F8 button as computer loading (press F8 before Windows logo appears);
- open Control Panel in Windows, go to Device Manager, find Display adapters category, right mouse click on graphic adapter, click Uninstall, select the check box "Delete the driver software for this device".
- reboot the laptop;
- find and download the latest video driver from the manufacturer's website and complete installation.
(Manufacturer for video chip can be Intel, nVidia or ATI/AMD, it's usually best to get the latest driver from the chip manufacturer directly, because your laptop's manufacturer such as Dell, Lenovo, HP etc may post outdated drivers on their support pages)

8. Use flashlight to check if backlight is not working (direct source of light to the screen, if you see faint image, you may need to check motherboard fuse )

Screen is cracked

Our lifetime warranty covers our LCDs against everything except for physical damage.

Cracked, crushed, punched screens cannot be replaced as a warranty claim, such mishaps are accidental damage and are not related to any LCD defect. LCDs consist of two 1mm glass panes glued together and are extremely fragile. A cracked LCD displays damage in a number of different patterns, but it usually has some crack lines and/or black stains of a spilled liquid inside.

The display must be replaced. If you bought from us before you will get discounted price as for 2+ quantity even if you buy a single screen!

Vertical or horizontal solid lines

1. Make sure the protective film was removed.

2. Make sure the screen does not have physical damage (damaged LCD usually has some crack lines and/or black stains of a spilled liquid inside).

3. Reconnect video cable from both sides. Make sure pins in the new screen's video connector are not bent and video cable connector is not damaged, and make sure the video cable connection is secure at the screen and motherboard level.

4. Upload a picture of the issue when creating return. LCD needs to be replaced.

Touch screen problem

Ensure the protective film is removed and nothing blocks the touch screen side.

For Windows
1. Visit the Manufacturer's Support Website:
Navigate to the support section of your laptop's manufacturer's website. Here are some examples:
Dell: support.dell.com
HP: support.hp.com
Lenovo: support.lenovo.com
Asus: support.asus.com

2. Update the Firmware:
Look for "Drivers & Software" or "Support & Downloads".
Find the section related to BIOS/UEFI updates. It might be labeled as "BIOS," "UEFI," "Firmware," or similar.
Download both the:
Firmware Update File: The file that contains the actual BIOS update.
Firmware Update Instructions: A document or file that explains how to install the BIOS update. Follow these instructions carefully as improper flashing can brick your device.

3. Update Video Drivers:
Navigate to "Drivers & Software".
Look for sections like "Display and Video Graphics" or "Graphics Drivers."
Choose the Correct Driver: Select your operating system (e.g., Windows 10 or 11, 32-bit or 64-bit), and choose between Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD drivers, depending on your laptop's graphics hardware.

Update in Safe Mode:
If you encounter issues with the current driver, boot into Safe Mode before installing the new driver. To enter Safe Mode:
Restart your computer and press F8 (or another key specified by your laptop's brand) to get to the Advanced Boot Options, then select Safe Mode. Then Install the driver from Safe Mode.

4. If Problems Persist, Run Diagnostics
Look for diagnostics apps in "Diagnostic" or "Tools" on the maker's support website (download and run it to find common issues).

For Chromebook
1. Ensure the touchscreen toggle ON, press Search + Shift + T or go to chrome://flags/#ash-debug-shortcuts and enable debugging keyboard shortcuts.
2. Check that your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS. Chromebooks automatically update, but you can manually check for updates: Click the clock in the bottom right corner, and click the settings gear, go to "About Chrome OS", and click "Check for updates".
3. Try a hard reset, but ENSURE all INFO is SAVED.

Proceed with the return only if the steps above do not resolve the issue.

NOTE: How to disable touchscreen.
Control Panel > Device Manager > Human Interface Devices > USB Touchscreen Controller(A111), right mouse click, then click "Disable". Restart the laptop.

Something printed on the screen

Most screens come with standard protective film, which is easily identifiable by adhesive tabs which hold it on the sides.
Some screens come with a less obvious "stick-on" film, which doesn't have the adhesive tabs on the sides. Such protective film may be identifiable by faint printed markings visible on the surface.

We recommend removing such film immediately before mounting the screen on the frame. If peeling tab is missing, attach tape on the corner of LCD and peel carefully. Avoid lifting LCD top layer.

Spots, light dots, pixels

1. Make sure the protective film was removed.

2. Make sure the screen does not have physical damage (damaged LCD usually has some crack lines and/or black stains of a spilled liquid inside).

3. Try the following method to remove the stuck pixel: www.jscreenfix.com
This software will flash colors across the affected area, please allow it to run for up to 1-2 hours. This may revive the pixel accordingly.

4. Upload a picture of the issue when creating return. LCD needs to be replaced.

Distorted or Pixelated Image

1. Make sure ordered screen has the same resolution as the original. Video cables for different resolution look identical, however, they have different pin assignment and different manufacturer's part numbers.

2. Reconnect video cable from both sides. Make sure pins in the new screen's video connector are not bent and video cable connector is not damaged, and make sure the video cable connection is secure at the screen and motherboard level.

3. Adjust the display resolution to native (recommended) settings. The recommended resolution should produce the sharpest and precise image on the screen, otherwise, the image can be fuzzy or distorted.

4. Upload a picture of the issue when creating return. LCD needs to be replaced.

Smartphone Troubleshooting

If you run into smartphone screen issues:

1. Re-install the screen. Make sure the pins in the new screen's connector are not bent, the cable connector is not damaged, and the cable connection is secure. When connection is properly made, you will feel it snap in place, with a light audible click.
Try cleaning the connectors with a toothbrush to remove any impediments. Check board connectors to make sure there is nothing blocking them or damaged pins.

2. If touch screen is not working, clean the touch screen with a soft cloth with some isopropyl alcohol on it, this helps remove any static interference which may cause loss of touch function.

3. If home button is not working, you will need to reconnect it. Make sure ribbon cable is not damaged. All smartphone screen we ship does not have home button because of compatibility issues. You will need to reuse your original home button.

4. If your phone is slightly bent, it may lead to different issues including cracked screen. You may need to contact phone's manufacturer or replace the outer casing.

5. Try to reset your phone (hard reboot).
For Iphone 6/6s: Hold down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo appear to reset your iPhone.
For Iphone 7/7s: Hold down the Volume and Power buttons until you see the Apple logo appear to reset your iPhone.

For phones with easily accessible battery: Remove battery; wait at least 10 seconds for all power to fully drain from your phone; reinsert the battery.

6. Free up phone storage. When phone has limited available storage, it may behave strangely, including an unresponsive touchscreen.

7. If the touch screen is still not working, try to perform factory reset. Make sure to backup all your data safely.

8. To avoid broken screen in the future, invest in a protective case.
