Replacement of screen on Lenovo ThinkPad E490 screen by laptopscreen.com
Shut down the laptop
For the demonstration purposes we are going to use this Lenovo ThinkPad E490 laptop.
Turn the laptop off and disconnect the power cord
Remove the bezel
Start removing the bezel. Insert a plastic pick between the bezel and the LCD
and move it along the perimeter. Release the bezel at the bottom and set it aside
Remove four screws
The original screen has tabs and is held in place with 4 Phillips screws.
Using a Phillips screwdriver remove the four screws. Place the screen on the keyboard
Disconnect the video cable
Peel off the clear tape securing the video connector. Open the connector’s bracket.
And using both hands disconnect the video cable, discard the old screen
Connect the new screen
Place the new screen on the keyboard. And using both hands gently reconnect the video
cable, close the connector’s bracket. Secure it with clear tape
Install the new screen
The new screen has no mounting tabs and we are going to use adhesive strips which
you can buy on our site: https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/section/tools/
Clean both sides of the screen and the back cover with rubbing alcohol. Apply adhesive
strips to the sides of the new screen. Remove protective film from adhesive.
Lift the screen up and apply some pressure to catch the adhesive. Remove protective
film from the screen
Replace the bezel
Start at the bottom then go around the perimeter snapping tabs back in place.
Make sure the bezel is snapped-in at the bottom.
Turn the screen on and we are done!
