For the replacement process we will need: a plastic pick ,a Phillips screwdriver and an
X-acto knife
Shut down the laptop
To begin turn the laptop off and disconnect the power cord. Remove the battery from the
bottom
Remove the first bezel
This laptop has two bezels. Start removing the first floppy bezel. Insert a plastic pick
between the bezel and the LCD. Move the pick around the perimeter. Insert the plastic
pick between the bezel and the back cover. Move it along the edges. Use X-acto knife
to cut strands of glue. Put the bezel aside
Remove the second bezel
Now we can remove the second inner bezel. Use X-acto knife to remove glue covering
the Phillips screws in the corners. Remove 4 screws. Use plastic pick to separate the bezel
from the back cover. Put the bezel aside
Disconnect the LCD
Now we have access to the LCD. Place the screen on the keyboard. Using plastic pick
open the connector’s bracket. Using both hands disconnect the video cable.
Discard the old screen
Connect the new screen
Place the new screen on the keyboard. And using both hands gently reconnect the video
cable and close the connector’s bracket. CAUTION! It is very important not to
force any connectors. Also make sure not to twist or slant the connector when plugging it in
Test the new screen
Lift the screen up and lean it against the back cover. Test the new screen. The screen is working
and we can finish the installation process
Replace the inner bezel
Go around the perimeter fitting bezel in place. Replace four Phillips screws in the corners
Replace the outer floppy bezel
It still has a glue sufficient to hold it in place. Go around the perimeter applying some pressure.
Make sure that the bezel is in place at the bottom and near the hinge covers.
Replace the battery, reconnect the power cord, turn the laptop on
and we are done!
