Replacement of screen on iPhone 7 touch screen made by LaptopScreen.com

Tools

To start, turn off the phone. You will need a small screwdriver, a pentalobe screwdriver,
a plastic pry tool, and a suction cup.

Warm up the perimeter of the iPhone

Apply heat around the perimeter of the iPhone to soften the adhesive underneath.

Open the iPhone

Place a suction cup near the home button. Pull up on the suction cup and insert a plastic
pick or an X-Acto knife between the glass assembly and the main body. Gently slide the
pick around the perimeter of the device to separate the glue. Open the front display
assembly carefully to a right angle.

Disconnect the screen assembly

Now we have access to the inside of the iPhone. Before disconnecting the display assembly,
we must disconnect the battery. The battery connector is located under a metal shield
held in place with screws. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws securing the battery
bracket. Remove the metal shield and use a plastic tool to carefully disconnect the battery.
Next, remove the screws securing the display connector shield at the top. Remove the
metal plate and set it aside. Using a plastic tool, disconnect the display assembly connectors
from the logic board.

Separate the screen assembly

Separate the front assembly from the main body and place it on your workspace next to
the new replacement screen.

Salvage the parts from the display assembly

As you can see, the new display assembly is missing several important components: the home
button, the metal shield over the LCD, the earpiece speaker box, and the front camera with
its cable garland. All of these parts must be transferred to the new screen assembly.
Start with the home button bracket. Remove the screws holding the metal bracket over the
home button and set them aside. Use a flat screwdriver or plastic pick to carefully open
the home button connector. Proceed with removing the bracket holding the camera and
speaker box. Remove the screws and set the speaker box and bracket aside.
Carefully separate the front camera and sensor garland from the old frame. Use a plastic
pick or tweezers to help lift the delicate sensors out of their guides.

Transfer salvaged components on to the new display assembly

Now we are ready to transfer these components onto the new front assembly. Start by
positioning the home button into its recess. Use a plastic pick or X-Acto knife to help
align the flex cable and fit it into place. Remove any protective film from the back of the
new screen assembly. Install the home button into place and reconnect its flex cable
connector. Secure the metal bracket over the home button with its screws.
Transfer the front camera, sensors garland, and earpiece speaker box to the new display
assembly. Make sure each sensor aligns properly into its clear plastic guide. Replace the
camera bracket and secure it with its screws.

Connect the new display assembly to the main body

Connect the new front assembly to the logic board. Carefully align each connector one by
one and press down gently until they snap into place. Reconnect the battery cable to the
logic board. Replace the battery connector metal shield and secure it with its screws.
Replace the display cable metal shield and secure it with its screws.

Close the iPhone

Carefully close the display assembly onto the main body, starting from the top edge and
working your way down, gently pressing around the perimeter until it snaps securely into
place. Turn on the iPhone to test the new screen. If the startup graphics appear, the new
display assembly is working properly, and you're done!
